The report cites that this expansion is largely fuelled by technological innovations and a shift in consumer preferences across various industries. A key driver being the construction industry as there is growing demand for pigment in construction materials and applications. 

The pigments industry is also undergoing a transformation towards sustainability. Many manufacturers are increasingly investing in green technologies to comply with environmental regulations.  This shift is in line with a global push for environmental responsibility in manufacturing processes, prompting manufactures create pigments with lower toxicity and minimal environmental impact.

Architectural and industrial coatings remain the leading markets for pigments. The World Paint and Coatings Industry Association noted a 1% increase in the architectural coatings market in 2022. Meanwhile, the industrial coatings segment reported robust sales, totalling $45.6 billion last year, underscoring the strong demand in this sector.
